Founded in 1988, MOLTECH-Anjou (CNRS - University of Angers) integrates more than 80 people (professors, assistant-professors, researchers, engineers, administrative staffs, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students) which are organized in five research teams of chemists and physicists (CIMI - SCL - SOMaF - ERDySS - SAMSON) .
A key characteristic of MOLTECH-Anjou lies on the convergence of the research topics, which are all focused on smart molecular materials and which are supported by expertises ranging from theoretical chemistry and molecular modeling, organic and inorganic syntheses, coordination chemistry, physical and analytical chemistry, material sciences,… to photonics. These skills are implemented into fields related to the optical and electronic properties of organic materials, with a special focus for addressable materials, molecular electronics and nanostructuration.

Conjugated Linear Systems (SCL) team
The group linear conjugated systems (SCL) is interested in the molecular engineering of pi-conjugated thiophene-based oligomers and polymers.
The group is involved in the design, the organic synthesis and the evaluation of electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of compounds and in the development of organic electronics (solar cells, light emitting diodes and transistors) and modified electrodes (mono-and multilayers).

The SAMSON group (Spectroscopie Atomique et Moléculaire, Structuration de Surfaces et Optique Non-linéaire)

Our research group investigates the molecular interactions in dilute and dense media, and develops methods for photo-induced molecular structuring in materials and for the diagnosis of their optical properties. The purpose is both the fundamental understanding and the applications, especially in the area of photonics. Amongst recent issues, the spontaneous building of surface structures, the photo-induced molecular coding, or the synchronous gyration of molecular nano-machines in polymers and mono-crystals open the door toward a multitude of perspectives in engineering. Links with the environmental physical
chemistry are established through the study of collective processes in the atmospheric media and the dense matter.
