Dr. Lionel Sanguinet (H-index: 22) has prepared his PhD under the supervision of Pr. JL Pozzo and Pr. V. Rodriguez working on new photochromic compounds at University of Bordeaux. After his graduation in 2003, he moved in the Pr R;J. Twieg’s group at the Kent State University (USA) as NSF postdoctoral researcher. In collaboration with Pr. K. Singer (Case Western University, USA), he has worked on the elaboration of non-polar materials for electro-optic applications. Two years later, in 2005, he moved back to France as CNRS postdoctoral researcher at the University of Angers. Under Dr Levilain’s supervision, he continued to fulfil his interest for light-matter interactions by working on functionalized surfaces for laser desorption/ionisation applications. During this time, he acquired a strong background in electrochemical characterisation of multi-redox molecular systems. After two years, he became in 2007 assistant Professor at the university of Angers in MOLTECH Anjou. In 2015, he got his habilitation in Physical and Organic Chemistry at the University of Angers and became Associate Professor, and then, obtained a full professor position in 2023. He is member of the French National University committee (CNU section 31) and participates of the steering committee of GDR photo- and electro-stimulation. Working in the Linear Conjugated System (SCL) group at MOLTECH Anjou, his research interests mainly concern (i) the elaboration and the characterization of molecular switches; (ii) the elaboration and characterization of materials incorporating electroactive and photoactive units for sensor applications; (iii) and the preparation of organic semi-conductors for molecular electronics. 

After his PhD thesis on tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)-based molecular materials in 1994 at the University of Nantes under the supervision of Pr A. Gorgues and Pr G. Duguay, he spent one year with the Pr J. Becher at the University of Odense (Denmark) where he developed TTF based macrocyclic electroactive compounds. In 1995, he was recruited as CNRS researcher and joined the group of Dr J. Roncali in Angers to develop thiophene-based π-conjugated oligomers and polymers. He obtained his Habilitation in 2001. His research interests deal with the design, synthesis and characterization of π-conjugated systems for i) organic electronic devices such as solar cells and ii) electrode materials such as self-assembled monolayers and conducting polymers for molecular electronics and energy storage. CNRS research director since 2007, he led the SCL group from 2016 to 2020, before being appointed director of MOLTECH-Anjou in July 2020.

After graduation in 2008, Clément Cabanetos undertook a PhD at the CEISAM laboratory (Nantes, France) on the synthesis of new crosslinkable polymers for nonlinear optical applications. Shortly after his thesis defense, he joined KAUST (Saudi Arabia) as a postdoctoral fellow to prepare efficient π-conjugated macromolecular materials for organic photovoltaics. In 2013, he was recruited as a permanent CNRS researcher at MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory in Angers to develop new and original concepts for organic electronics. He defended his habilitation in 2018 (associate professorship) and received in 2019 the CNRS bronze medal. In early 2021, he moved to an international joint laboratory (2BFUEL) hosted at Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea) to broaden his expertise and collaborations. In charge of this laboratory from September 2022 to December 2023, he finally went back to Angers as CNRS Research Director (DR) with new scientific prospects.

Charles Cougnon obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Rennes1 in 2002, working in the electrochemical stability of noble metal in organic solvents. After one-year assistant professor in chemistry at the University of Nantes, he joined the Centre National de la Recherche (CNRS) as Chargé de Recherche in Le Mans, working in DNA-based electrochemical sensors. In 2008, he moved to the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) as a visiting searcher in the groups of Professors D. Bélanger and J. Mauzeroll where he work on the surface nano- and microstructuring with diazonium salts by using the scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM). When he returned to France, he joined the University of Angers in 2010 to conduct researches on electrochemical energy storage, especially supercapacitor technologies. Since then, his research interests are centered on organic materials for energy storage, including modified carbonaceous electrodes with small redox molecules, conducting polymers, redox polymers, with a special focus on their electrochemical stability. 

Frédéric Gohier received his Ph.D. degree in 2003 from the University of Le Mans, under the supervision of Pr. J. Mortier. He studied ortholithiation of benzoic acid derivatives. Then he went to RR Schmidts’s group in Konstanz working on carbohydrate chemistry. After two year’s as ATER in Le Mans, he was recruited in Le Mans and focused on rubber chemistry. In 2010, he moved to Angers to work on organic semiconductors. He is particularly interested in synthesis methods for the formation of new materials for optoelectronics.

After a PhD in organic chemistry under the supervision of Pr A. Gorgues (Angers, France) and Pr J. Becher (Odense, Denmark) and a postdoctoral fellowship with the Pr M. Cava (Tuscaloosa, USA), Philippe Leriche obtained in 1998 a position of assistant professor at MOLTECH-Anjou. Specialized in organic electronics, he was promoted full professor in 2009. Since, in parallel of his research activities, he became head of the chemistry department (2009-12), vice-dean (2012-17) and then dean (since 2017) of the faculty of Sciences of the University of Angers. He was involved in the RFI and EUR LUMOMAT as well as, since 2022, in the EU-GREEN European network. 

Maxime Rémond obtained his PhD in 2018 at ENS de Lyon under the supervision of Dr. Chantal Andraud and Dr. Yann Bretonnière working on NIR solid-state fluorescence from push–pull dyes for biological imaging. He then joined the group of Prof. Eunkyoung Kim as a postdoctoral researcher at Yonsei University (Seoul, S^th Korea) to prepare fluorescent and phosphorescent π-conjugated materials for light-emitting electrochemical cells. Afterward, he joined Dr. Marc Lepeltier and Prof. Cedric Mayer at Institut Lavoisier de Versailles and at the LuMIn lab in ENS Paris-Saclay to work on push-pull dyes for 2D hybrid perovskites. Then, he worked with Dr. Ludovic Favereau and Dr. Gregory Pieters at ISCR and at CEA Saclay to explore chiral TADF emitters for circularly polarized OLEDs. In 2023, he was recruited as a CNRS researcher at MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory in Angers to develop purely organic room temperature phosphorescent materials and to study their use in OLEDs devices. His research interests are directed toward the broad field of conjugated organic materials and their applications.

Rana ABDEL SAMAD is a PhD student at the University of Angers. She was born in Lebanon in 1999. She obtained her bachelor degree in general chemistry (2019) and her Master 1 in molecular chemistry (2020) from the Lebanese University. She did her first semester of Master 2 (research in organic chemistry) at the Lebanese University, and her internship at the University of Angers (2021) with Pr. Tony BRETON, working on “Preparation of functional electrodes: controlled electrografting of diazonium salts on carbon for optimization of reactivity”. She currently works on “Engineering of conductive polymers for electrochemical energy storage” under the supervision of Dr. Charles COUGNON.

Jihad Abdo is a PhD student at the University of Angers. He was born in Lebanon in 1997. He obtained his bachelor degree in General Chemistry (2018) and his Master degree in Applied Chemistry (2020) from the Lebanese University. During his masters in Lebanon, he undertook his internship with Dr. Chady Moussallem. He worked on the synthesis of organic semiconductors by green chemistry for plastic electronics applications. Jihad joined the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory in October 2022 to start his PhD. He is currently working on Functionalized conjugate systems for applications in flexoelectricity or luminescence under the supervision of Pr. Pierre FRERE. The thesis work will essentially consist of the synthesis of monomers then the preparation of polymers by chemical polymerization or electropolymerization. The manufacturing of the devices and the flexoelectricity measurements will be carried out in Nantes in collaboration with the IETR laboratory.

Maëlys obtained her master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Angers in September 2023. During her master’s degree, she carried out two internships, the first one with Prof Pierre Frère at the University of Angers, and the second one with Dr Max McGillen at the CNRS Orléans. She joined the SCL team in October 2023 as an engineer with Prof Pierre Frère. She is currently working on the synthesis of thiophene-based compounds. The aim of these compounds is to form polymer films for subsequent use in photovoltaic cells.

Abdelhaq Cherradi is a PhD student at the University of Angers. He earned his master's degree in Marrakech, Morocco, at Cadi Ayyad University, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques (FSTG), in 2023. His master's program focused on organic or polymeric materials and inorganic materials. His final project took place at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC) in Toulouse, France, on the topic "Synthesis and Characterization of New NHC-Phosphorus Ylide and NHC-Carboxylate Complexes with Group IX Metals," under the supervision of Dr. Yves Canac. Following his project, Abdelhaq joined the Moltech-Anjou laboratory in Angers, France, to pursue his doctoral studies under the guidance of Prof. Frédéric Gohier and Prof. Philippe Blanchard. Abdelhaq is working on the synthesis and characterization of organic materials for electron-transporting layers (ETLs) in perovskite-based solar cells.

Arthur was born and grew up in Vannes, France. He received his B.Sc. (2014) and M.Sc. (2016) degrees from the University of Rennes 1, France. As an undergraduate student, he carried out two internships working on the synthesis of mechanically interlocked molecules: the first with Dr Victor Blanco at the University of Granada, Spain (2015) and the second with Dr Nicholas G. White at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia (2016). In October 2016, he returned to Granada to start his PhD under the supervision of Dr Victor Blanco and Dr Araceli G. Campaña working on the synthesis and application of rotaxanes based on vinyl sulfonyl click chemistry and the study of their chiroptical properties, as well as the supramolecular chemistry of saddle-shaped nanographenes. During his PhD, he spent three months working with Prof David A. Leigh at the University of Manchester, UK. After the completion of his PhD (Octobre 2020), he joined Sir Fraser Stoddart’s group at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA, in February 2021, where he focused his investigation on luminescent molecular pumps, cyclophanes, and catenanes. After a first postdoctoral experience, in May 2022, he pursued his carrier with Dr. Antoine Goujon at the University of Angers, France, where he studied electron-poor nanographenes for their implementation in organic electronic devices. Currently, Arthur is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Angers, France, working with Dr. Philippe Blanchard. His research is centered on the synthesis of chromophores for organic photovoltaics.

Hayley obtained a BSc in chemistry from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2016, and a masters in chemistry with a specialisation in polymer materials from Sorbonne Universités (Paris VI) in 2018. During the final year of her masters, she worked as an apprentice at L'Oréal Advanced Research developing novel methods to modify polysaccharides to obtain green rheology modifiers. She then continued work as a research engineer at L'Oréal Advanced Research, managing the diversification of raw material sources for L'Oréal's portfolio, concentrating on polymer, silicon and pigment materials.  Hayley has been part of Moltech since November 2020, and is responsible for the fabrication of organic electronic devices as well as the maintenance and logistics of the infrastructure of the device fabrication platform.

Darío Javier Puchán Sánchez was born and grew up in Zaragoza (Spain). He obtained a BSc in chemistry with specialization in Organic chemistry (2020) from The University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR). During the final year of the BSc he worked in his final license project on the synthesis of new Hole Transport Materials for Perovskite Solar Cells under the supervision of Prof. Santiago Franco and Prof. Raquel Andreu. He then earned his MSc in Organic Chemistry (2021) from Universidad de Valencia (UV) and researching in a titled project: Synthesis of chiral oxindoles by organocatalytic Mannich-type reactions for 8 months under the supervision of Prof. Gonzalo Blay. Currently, Darío is pursuing a Ph.D. in Molecular and Organic Chemistry at University of Angers under the supervision of Dr. Clément Cabanetos and Dr. Frédéric Gohier. His doctoral research focuses on the study of " Modulation of intersystem crossing kinetics in benzothioxanthene imide: toward new heavy-atom free photosensitizers ”.
