Dr. Sebastien Goeb (Group Leader)

CNRS Researcher (DR CNRS, HDR)

Sebastien Goeb obtained his PhD degree in Organic Chemistry in 2006 under the supervision of Drs Raymond Ziessel and Antoinette De Nicola. He then carried out two successive one year postdoctoral stays respectively with Prof. Felix N. Castellano at the University of Bowling Green (USA) and with Dr Jean-Luc Parrain at the Institut des Sciences Moléculaires de Marseille (France). He became Chargé de Recherche CNRS in the laboratory MOLTECH-Anjou in 2008. His research activity focused on the design of stimulable molecular architectures built by coordination self-assembly. In particular, he designs redox stimulable molecular hosts capable of modulating their complexation properties, and interlocked supramolecular cages bearing donor and acceptor units.

Prof. David Canevet

Full Professor (Professeur des Universités)

David Canevet obtained a PhD from the University of Angers in January 2010 (Dir. Pr Marc Sallé) and his habilitation in 2018. During his PhD, his research activities focused on multifunctional architectures to elaborate molecular logic gates, as well as tetrathiafulvalene-based gelators as precursors for nanostructured conducting materials. In March 2010, he joined Dr Emilio Pérez and Pr Nazario Martin in the University Complutense of Madrid to study macrocyclic hosts for fullerenes. Since September 2011, David Canevet is associate professor in the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory, where he leads research activities in the field of supramolecular chemistry. His main interests include supramolecular photo- and electroactive polymers and photo- and redox-switchable foldamers, a research line he initiated in Angers.

Dr. Antoine Goujon 

Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences)

Antoine Goujon obtained his PhD degree in Organic Chemistry in october 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Giuseppone at the Université de Strasbourg, working on the macroscopic amplification of collective motions of molecular machines and motors. He then carried out a postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. Stefan Matile at the Université de Genève (Switzerland) from 2017 to mid 2019 working on the design, synthesis and evaluation of mechanosensitive fluorescent probes to sense and vizualise membrane tension in living cells. He was appointed Maîte de Conférence (Associate Professor) in the laboratory MOLTECH-Anjou in september 2019. He works on new synthetic methodologies for the pi-extension of perylenediimides and their use in organic electronics devices and supramolecular assemblies.

Prof. Marc Sallé

Full Professor (Professeur des Universités)

Marc Sallé received his Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry from the University of Angers in 1991 under the supervision of Professor Alain Gorgues. After a postdoctoral stay with Professor Martin R. Bryce at the University of Durham (UK), he became Assistant Professor at the University of Angers, where he was promoted to a Professor in 1998. He was awarded the Dina Surdin prize and junior membership of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) and has been nominated Distinguished Senior member of the Société Chimique de France. His research interests concern molecular materials and supramolecular chemistry associated with electro(photo)-active molecular systems.

Dr. Lizzie Killalea

Postdoctoral Researcher

Lizzie Killalea obtained her PhD from the University of Nottingham in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. David Amabilino.  Her PhD studies focussed on the self-assembly of asymmetric chromophores, including the formation of twisted crystals and the use of circular dichroism imaging to investigate the influence on the chiral packing of thin films. She then carried out a two-year post-doctoral stay at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in the group of Prof. Yves Geerts working on the design and synthesis of a range of molecules employed in CISS effect studies. Lizzie is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the PulSAr group working on stimuli-responsive chiral foldamers in solution and light-emitting diodes (SKYFALL) with David Canevet.

Dr. Miguel Ángel Medel Miranda

Postdoctoral Researcher

Miguel Ángel Medel Miranda obtained his PhD from the University of Granada (Spain) in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Araceli G. Campaña and Dr. Sara P. Morcillo. His doctoral research focused on the synthesis of distorted nanographenes that combine non-hexagonal rings and helicenes to investigate their chiroptical properties. He then joined the group of Prof. Aurelio Mateo Alonso at POLYMAT (San Sebastián, Spain) as a postdoctoral researcher, where he worked for two years developing nanoribbons and studying their photophysical properties. Miguel Ángel is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the PulSar group, working with Dr. Antoine Goujon on the synthesis of carbon imides bearing distorted-ring-embedded helicene for chiral electronics (IBERIAN).

Dr. Vincent Monnier

Postdoctoral Researcher

Vincent Monnier was born in Saint-Nazaire, France. After a bachelor degree in chemistry obtained in the university of Nantes, he pursued his studies with a LUMOMAT master degree, between the universities of Nantes and Angers. He obtained his PhD from the university of Nantes in 2022 under the supervision of Fabrice ODOBEL and Stephane DIRING. His PhD studies focused on the synthesis of new perylene diimide ligands for the elaboration of redox active metal-organic frameworks, with an emphasis on the study of the charge displacement in such porous structures for electrochemical applications. He then carried out a two-years post-doctoral stay at the institute POLYMAT in San Sebastian/Donostia, Spain. This work, under the supervision of Aurelio (Koke) Mateo-Alonso, focused on the design and synthesis of building blocks for the elaboration of atomically precise nanoribbons through an in-solution bottom-up approach, and their study in terms of photophysical properties and electronics.  Vincent is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the PulSAr group, working on the rationalization and structural control of interlocked chiral coordination cages.

Dr. Benjamin Mourot

Postdoctoral Researcher

Benjamin Mourot studied chemistry and molecular physico-chemistry at the University of Lorraine in Nancy, France. In 2024, he completed his PhD at Aix-Marseille University under the supervision of Dr. S. Pascal and Dr. O. Siri, focusing on the development of coupled polymethine systems and their electronic properties. In April 2024, he joined Prof. H. Yamada’s team at Kyoto University as a postdoctoral researcher, where he prepared and investigated the optical and redox properties of several azaacene-fused (hetero)porphyrins. Benjamin is currently a postdoctoral researcher within the PulSAr group, as part of the PhotoFreeze project, with Dr. A. Goujon, developing and studying modified extended perylene diimides and related polymers.

Malika Alshab

PhD Student

Malika Alshab was born in Al-Marwanieh, South Lebanon. She earned her B.Sc., M.Sc. (1) and M.Sc. (2) degrees in Chemistry from the Lebanese University. Currently, she is a cotutelle Ph.D. student jointly affiliated with the Lebanese University and the University of Angers.

Malika is conducting her research with the Pulsar team, under the co-supervision of Dr. Sébastien Goeb and Pr. Marc Sallé. Her work focuses on functional redox-active self-assembled molecular cages, exploring their synthesis and applications as nanoreactors.

Romain Guechaichia

PhD Student

Romain was born in Angers in 1999. He obtained his bachelor degree of physics and chemistry in 2020 after two years of engineering preparatory class. Then he obtained his master degree performing the LUMOMAT master in the universities of Nantes and Angers. During his master, he performed two internships, the first one working with Dr Sebastien Goeb in Angers on the field of breathing supramolecular cages thanks to redox stimuli and the second one working with Dr Franck Camerel, Dr Sandrine Cammas-Marion and Dr Nathalie Bellec in Rennes on polymeric nanoparticles incorporating photothermal gold bisdithiolene complexes. He is now performing his PhD with Dr Sebastien Goeb on redox controlled catenation of coordination cages.

Fanny Guicheteau

PhD Student

Fanny obtained her DUT in analytical and synthetic chemistry, her Bachelor's degree and her Master's degree in Molecular Chemistry at the University of Rennes (France) in 2024. She made her last internship to validate her Master's degree in the Organometallics Materials and Catalysis (OMC) and the Organic Chemistry and Interfaces (CORINT) teams, between the Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences and the Rennes School of Chemistry (ENSCR), where she did the multi-step synthesis of complexes with surprising optoelectrochemical properties, under the supervision of Yann TROLEZ and Julien BOIXEL. Then she moved in Moltech Anjou to start her PhD, where she works on the multi-step synthesis and characterization of the optoelectronical properties of electron-deficient conjugated materials under the supervision of Antoine GOUJON.

Louis Hardoin

PhD Student

Louis Hardoin is a PhD student at the University of Angers under the supervision of Professor David CANEVET. He obtained a bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry at the University of Angers. Afterwards, he completed the first year of the LUMOMAT Master's degree in Nantes and performed an internship under the supervision of Professor Pietrick HUDHOMME and Dr Antoine GOUJON on the synthesis and investigation of an acceptor donor system based on Perylenediimide and tetrathiafulvalene. His Master's degree diploma was obtained in Angers after completing the internship under the supervision of Professor David CANEVET on the study and synthesis of luminescent foldamers. He is currently working on oligopyridine-dicarboxamide foldamers with two themes: luminescent foldamers and redox control of double helices hybridization.

Emilien Husson

PhD Student

Emilien HUSSON is a PhD student at the University of Rennes under the supervision of Dr. Pierre-Antoine BOUIT (ISCR) and Prof. David CANEVET (MOLTECH-Anjou). He obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies (FST) of Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy. His Master’s degree diploma was obtained in FST after completing the internship under the supervision of Prof. Vincent FERRIERES (ENSCR) on the Development of boronic esters inducing hydrogen bonds for regioselective acylation reactions. He is currently working on the synthesis of bisphosphonium-based electro- and photo-active rotaxanes and tunning the spectroscopic properties of merocyanines through hybridization.

Lucas Loriot

PhD Student

Lucas Loriot is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Antoine Goujon. Born in Annecy (2002), he moved to the west part of France in order to study chemistry at the University of Tours, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in the discipline. He then entered the LUMOMAT master in September 2023 and was successfully diplomed in July 2025. During his master’s degree, he did a first internship on the synthesis and characterization of oxime-based semiconductors under the supervision of Prof. Peter J. Skabara, at the University of Glasgow (Scotland), and a second one on the synthesis of confined perylene diimide-based macromolecules and characterization of their mixed-valence properties upon reduction, under the supervision of Dr. Antoine Goujon at MOLTECH-Anjou (France). He is currently working the synthesis of dynamic covalent materials and characterisation of their optoelectronic properties.

Eléna Picourlat

PhD Student

Eléna has been a PhD student at the University of Angers in the PulSar team since October 2025. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Advanced Chemistry in 2023 from the University of Nantes. In the same year, she transferred into the LUMOMAT master’s program, completing her first year at the University of Nantes and her second year at the University of Angers. During the first year, she worked on modifying designed proteins (a3C and a4C) for singlet fission applications, under the supervision of Starla Glover and Victor Gray at the Ångström Laboratory (University of Uppsala). In the second year, she focused on synthesizing and characterizing new phthalocyanine-based organic semiconductors for transistor applications at the University of Ottawa, under the supervision of Jacklyn Brunson and Benoit Lessard. Eléna decided to join the project in October 2025, focusing on light-frozen dynamic covalent synthesis of electron-deficient conjugated materials. She is currently working on the synthesis of PDI cyclophane structures.

Sindoora Suresh

PhD Student

Sindoora Suresh completed her under graduation and master’s degree in India, from MG University and VIT University respectively. As part of her master’s thesis, she worked on the synthesis of bio-active molecules and performed their biological studies. In 2022, Sindoora moved to France and obtained an additional master’s degree in Catalysis, Molecules and Green Chemistry from the University of Rennes. During her masters in Rennes, she undertook her internship with Prof. Dominique Lorcy and Dr. Antoine Vacher in the MaCSE team. She worked on the development of Tetrathiafulvalene based functional molecules and exploiting their redox chemistry at the supramolecular levels. Sindoora joined the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory in October 2023 to start her PhD. She is currently working on redox-controlling the binding of coordination cages grafted on monolayered surfaces, under the supervision of Dr. Sebastien Goeb and Dr. Christelle Gautier.

Oumaima AbidiMaazaoui

Temp. Assistant Professor

Oumaima ABIDI obtained her Ph.D. from the university of Burgundy in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Cyrille HIERSO AND Dr. Julien ROGER. Her doctoral research focused on transition-metal-catalyzed ortho-directed C–H bond activation and functionalization (Pd, Ru, Ir and Rh), as well as the mechanistic understanding of these transformations. She then joined the Redox Inorganic Chemistry (CIRe) group at the department of Molecular Chemistry, Université Grenoble Alpes, in collaboration with the LEPMI laboratory, working with Dr. Nicolas LECONTE on the multi-step organic synthesis of redox-active ligands and their complexation with earth-abundant metals for battery applications. Oumaima ABDI is currently a temporary assistant professor involved in the photofreeze project, working with Dr. Antoine GOUJON on the synthesis of perylenediimides.

Clara Pasgrimaud

Engineer Assistant

Clara obtained a DUT in Chemistry in Rennes in 2020 then a professional Bachelor in Fine and Synthetic Chemistry in Le Mans in 2021. Clara made simultaneously worked in the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory where she developed the synthesis of helicenic derivates (CIMI Team) and of thiophene derivatives (SCL Team). Then, she worked for one year as a technician on Antibody Drug Conjugates at the University of Tours. She followed-up as a technician for 6 months on the synthesis of perfumed molecules from terpenes at Demeta (Rennes). Subsequently, she worked for 9 months as a production technician on Antibody Drug Conjugates at Axplora (Le Mans). She’s currently an assistant engineer working with Antoine Goujon.
